In 2009 The ANU Medical School will be celebrating its sixth year as Canberra’s only medical school at one of the best universities in Australia. The medical school has around 340 students from first to fourth year, and has the second cohort of students starting their internships. There are a wide variety of students of different ages and backgrounds that make up the medical school, and a wide range of extracurricular activities being organised for next year to cater for all student’s tastes and interests.

The ANU Medical School has close ties with the Canberra medical community, recruiting most of their teaching staff from local doctors, as well as employing many staff for clinical teaching and problem based learning activities. Third and fourth year students in The ANU Medical School will be on their clinical placement year and will be forming close teaching relationships with doctors in the community, including doctors at the Canberra Hospital and Calvary Hospital, the two main teaching hospitals for The ANU Medical School.
